I wanted to like this place, and the service was good, but the food was just disappointing.

It was not bad, but it was disappointing.

First came drinks, and these were excellent.  I had the Mezcal Old Fashioned, and my partner had the Sazerec, both of which were delightful.  No complaints there.

Then came bread.  It was cold, and mostly flavorless.  The accompanying butter was also cold, therefore difficult to spread.  Despite how hungry we were when we arrived, it didn't seem a worthwhile use of stomach space, so we stopped at one piece each.

We each had half a Caesar salad as an appetizer, and while not bad, they weren't quite right either.  They were five intact romaine leaves, dressed and with croutons, which makes for a nice plating, but is a hassle for actual eating.  The dressing seemed like a cheap Caesar base with anchovies added, and while again it was not bad, it was not as good as I'd expected.

But this was okay, I reasoned.  As long as the entree was good, it would be no big deal.

I ordered the Ravioli de Zucca, which is butternut squash filled ravioli in a sherry cream sauce with mushrooms, spinach, and hazelnuts.  The mushrooms were flavorful, and the raviolis themselves were good, though quite small.  However, the sauce was broken.  It was thin and separating into oil spots, which by itself would not be so bad, except that it was far too salty.  It was so salty, that half way through the dish I started picking out the raviolis to eat plain, because I couldn't stomach more of the sauce.

My partner ordered the Tortellini, baked with sausage.  I tried a bite of this, and the sauce was rich with a spicy finish, which was nice.  However, he informed me that half of his tortellinis were empty.  I'd understand if it was one or two, but half of them is negligent.

I wanted to like this place, and the service was good, but the food was just disappointing.

A true neighborhood bistro.  If I lived within walking distance, I'd be indulging in their amazing brunch and happy hours frequently!

What I love about this place:  it's right off the street (bothell Everett hwy) and has outdoor seating, so you get a "city feel" in the small town area of downtown Bothell.  Inside there is a bar section to the right and seats leading back towards the open kitchen. A mirror is angled above the service station so you (and more importantly your server) can see when the kitchen has finished making your meal.

There is a very respectable selection of non-alcoholic (and fun) beverages and for those who like to imbibe, you're covered. The wine menu is extensive, the liquor selection and available cocktails are exciting and the staff is both knowledgeable and accommodating when it come to questions you may have.

You can't sit at a bad seat, although I'm partial to being in the center to watch everything around me.

For brunch I've had the Amaro Burger, cooked exactly the way I wanted (mid-rare).  Let me describe this Burger...hand formed, perfectly seasoned, nice char and JUICY! It belongs at a steak house.

For dinner I've had the Caprese Salad and loved their addition of WHOLE garlic cloves in olive oil. It really kicks up the flavor.  If this type of place appeals to you as something you want frequently in your life, check out the apartments right above it! You could move right in. Final note, there is a parking garage behind Amaro which not only has retail parking spaces, but about 4 designated specifically for Amaro.

Little Italian place in downtown Bothell.   Great happy hour, very good food, excellent wine selection.

Little Italian place in downtown Bothell.   Great happy hour, very good food, excellent wine selection, and usually plenty of seating.

Parking is available on street and under the building, however can be very sparse.   Bothell City Hall across the street has public parking as well.
